Through this workshop I was able to understand the capabilities and limitations of CNC machines and create my own contoured chair. This workshop helped me understand and experiment with design, use basic machinery for woodworking and critically thinking. How to use a sanding machine, different types of saws and drilling machines.
Lead by Layth Madhi, an Architect and Fabricator with a great experience in Advanced Robotic Fabrication. He is an award-winning architect who has collaborated with an array of international architects and being heavily involved in the design of many of UAE’s iconic projects. Layth has completed his master’s degree in Architecture and Digital Technologies from the University of Michigan, United States. His projects won multiple awards some of which are AIA Middle East first-place design award and Young Artist Award first-place design category and Harper’s BAZAR Best Emerging Designer. While at the University of Michigan, he was chosen to be a research fellow working at the Digital Robotic Fabrication lab at the University of Michigan.
