Hammock Chair

Workshop Year : 2019

Lead by : Marko Runjic

The inspiration for the HiPa chair comes from the natural forms defined in mathematics, hyperbole and parabola, and their relationships. These compact but reduced forms radiate the beauty of hidden natural proportions.

HiPa chair is made of cheap and easily accessible materials and recycled items. Four shovel handles, 20m 8mm thick ropes, 80cm white hose for siphon, 2 hinges and 2 butterfly rods for manual tightening and does not contain any type of adhesive.

HiPa chair is easily foldable and made of easily accessible materials and recycled items. Four wooden sticks, 20m rope thickness 8mm, 80cm white hose 2 hinges and 2 “butterfly” screws for manual tension and doesn’t contain any type of glue. It’s easy to fold and with exception drilling of holes for knitted seat it does not require any other tools. Some of the components, such as rope knitting (made from singe piece of rope), can be used after the primary use of chair has ended.

HiPa chair is not a classic resting chair, but an object that stimulates interaction with the user. Seat positions can vary, depending on the user, and the “loose” structure of the seat from knitted cord adapts to the shape of the body
